Customs and import taxes

Cradle to cradle info:
-Sourcing: lamp base is composed of lake michigan sand and aggregate, iron oxides for pigment, healing water from rural alabama, and a binding agent. shells were sourced ethically from lake Michigan's shoreline. no animals were harmed. the shells used are zebra and/or guagga mussels. these mussels are invasive to the great lakes region, but were brought from eastern europe through commercial trade in the 1980s..
-Disposing: shade is composed of shells, an epoxy coat on interior, and an aluminum metal frame. strip shells and epoxy from metal frame and recycle metal frame. metal hardware can be stripped from concrete base and recycled. electrical can be lifted up and out from concrete base and reused. concrete base, shells, and epoxy should be sent to landfill if you can't reuse them.
Lamp care:
-Please use an LED/cool touch bulb to avoid heat damage to shell shade. An extra bulb is included.
-Shade spins on a needle roller bearing, which is visible when you lift the shade from the base. this big boy spins a little slower, because of his bigger size. if the spinning mechanism slows down, oil the roller bearing mechanism with any standard tool lubricant.
-The shade is fragile. There is an epoxy coat on the interior of this shade to strengthen it, but it's still delicate. A bag with a few extra mussel shells is included in case you ever need to make a repair.

All pieces are handmade and one-of-a-kind. Pieces may have small imperfections, dimples, and blemishes. I try to be sure blemishes are included in the item’s photographs. Please keep this in mind as you order.
Pottery is fragile, so I package my pots carefully to avoid any items breaking in shipment. Sometimes, this can mean a large amount of shipping material is used. Boxes, shrink wrap, shredded paper, and bubble wrap are recyclable. Packing peanuts are biodegradable. Please recycle/biodegrade if possible!
Custom pieces can take about 4 weeks to create. I avoid delays as much as possible, but the kiln can have a mind of its own. I’ll notify you immediately if I expect any delays in the production process.
